“Nothing stayed dead in the house for long. I tried it on myself first, then upon the man. I lay in a warm bath with my arms relaxed at my sides. I slipped into the water and when I could not be more relaxed, I cut my wrists open. My wrists dripped. The bath water went red. I felt the warmth of the bath, the heat of my wrists, the cold of my draining. Then the bleeding stopped and the bath cooled. I was not dead…”
